Telecommunications Company, Airtel Africa, has launched “The Voice Africa”, which will serve as a platform to help discover and champion the musical talents of young Africans, enabling them to achieve their full potential.
The Managing Director of Airtel Africa, Segun Ogunsanya, during the launch on Wednesday in Lagos, stated that ‘The Voice Africa’ was the company’s latest designed creativity primarily to support and lift the young Africans which are of course the continent’s most valuable asset.
Ogunsanya, represented by Emeka Oparah, Vice-President, Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility, Airtel Africa, defines the Voice as the world’s number one competition format music and entertainment show.
He added that Airtel Africa was enabling the emergence of successful musicians who could be able to compete with their peers from anywhere in the world.
“As the continent with the youngest population worldwide connecting their creativity, talent and energy could be transformational for Africa” he stated.
He made mention that “Airtel Africa has made provision for the creation of a platform, through The Voice Africa for enabling Africa’s youth to display their talent and bring out the innermost best in them,”
Furthermore, he included that the show was airing in over 180 countries.
Ogunsanya said, “Building on the success of The Voice Nigeria, Airtel Africa has partnered with the executive producers of seasons three and four, FAME Studios Africa, to roll out the award-winning concept to all 14 Airtel Africa markets.”
He made it known that the debut season of ‘The Voice Africa’ would be streamlined to millions of Africans via Airtel TV, Free to Air stations (FTAs) and paid channels across 14 countries in Africa.
“Expectations have been made for the brightest of African musical talents to be attracted by it and as well showcased, in conjunction with a high-profile panel of coaches and TV hosts, and act as a launchpad for global recognition.”
“As a process, seven participants from each of the 14 countries will be selected to participate in the programme, with one of them eventually emerging as The Voice Africa”.
“As a business, we are motivated by the purpose to transform lives, and that has to do with unlocking the potential for people to grow limitlessly,” said Ogunsanya.
According to him, it is believed that their stunning performances which involves drama as well as excitement will unite people together across the continent.
“Our musical landscape is culturally rich, vibrant, and also dynamic and the rhythms of Africa are already making an enormous effect universally” he added
Inclusively, he said “There is a huge opportunity for African music to be exported on a scale larger than ever before, and The Voice Africa has come as a great source to empower our young talents and support them in fulfilling their ambitions,
“On October 19, the show will begin with a call for virtual auditions followed by live auditions later in the year.
