BY PATRICK OGBOGU
OGBUESHI Adizue Eluaka is the Delta North Senatorial Chairman of the All Progressive Congress [APC].
The Asaba-born political and community leader was the immediate past first member of the Asaba Capital Territory Development Agency, who later resigned his appointment in protest against the alleged government’s negative political attitude to the Asaba people.
Undoubtedly, the first thing that comes to mind whenever you mention the name of AdizueEluaka is the fact that he is a passionate leader who you can be proud of in political circles.
He is unpretentiously humble notwithstanding his level of achievement in community and political life.
Adizue is a workaholic, always on the move and he demonstrates the intellectualism in him by not just taking anything thrown at him. Even though he listens to people and carries everyone along, yet he scrutinizes every suggestion with a mind to weighing it against available options and often settles for the best.
In the college of political leaders in all divides, Adizue cannot be regarded as a baby. On the contrary, he has always shown that he is an intellectual and a professional who can hold his own. Adizue is a political scientist who knows how to run a participatory, accountable and transparent political administration rooted in responsive, effective and efficient distribution of political empowerment.
He is a good political leader who has the ability and strategic vision to run an equitable and all inclusive political administration that would turn around the fortunes of the party. Equally, as a passionate political leader, Adizue has the power to manage, distribute the political and economic resources, build relationships with stakeholders and make decisions that can have a great impact on the well-being of people.
As a Christian of the Catholic faith, Adizue believes in transparency, honesty and integrity and does not throw transparency, probity and accountability to the winds.
God only trusts a man or woman of true honesty, sincerity and transparency, no wonder Adizue has always been opportune to occupy leadership positions in various spheres of life because of the grace of God upon him.
Some people may claim to be honest, but wait when they are opportuned to have money or placed in a position of authority, you will see their true colour, becoming boisterously proud and pompously intimidating other people that come near them. Adizue is not such a political leader. He is humble to a fault.
Furthermore, Joseph in the Bible has every opportunity to have his master’s wife in bed without anybody knowing it, but he knew the implication of committing such an evil act. If Joseph had had Potiphar’s wife, he would have ended up being a glorified household in Potiphar’s house and he would have not seen the office of the Egyptians Prime Minister.
And like the Biblical Joseph, Adizue had demonstrated transparency and honesty in public service, and as building committee chairman of his church and religious circles he equally distinguished himself as a good Christian and servant of the Lord, and today, he is enjoying divine blessings from one political office to another.
Equally, Adizue has shown that a Christian should stand out and be different from others because our Lord Jesus while speaking in Matthew 5: 14-16, says we are the light of the world and we should let our light shine wherever we are.
When Adizue became the new Chairman of APC, Delta North chapter, I had no doubt that he would deliver.
As a Nigerian citizen, publisher/journalist and political analyst, I am aware of the daunting political problems of the APC, especially in Delta North, which is dominated by the PDP; however, the way and manner Adizue took up the challenge after he succeeded Ogbueshi Ben Onwuka, the immediate past senatorial chairman; was quite commendable.
Being a team player and talent hunter, who knows the rudiments of politics and democracy, Adizue went ahead to galvanize support to bring APC to political limelight in Delta North and build political structures and empower people.
Through various programmes and policies, Adizue has positively transformed the lives of politicians who were dumped by the opposition party and has taken his party to a frontline position, notwithstanding the advent of Peter Obi who has taken Nigeria’s politics by storm, of which the PDP and the ruling party are not finding it as easy as it was in the past years.
Let us face the fact; what is happening in Delta North political climate since Adizue resigned from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP to the APC is extraordinary and quite unprecedented in the political history of the area.
Although Adizue is not the only notable politician from the ruling party in Delta North, his defection from the PDP to the APC, remains, most probably, the most strategic and monumental political move any politician in the area has made in the current political dispensation.
However, it is one thing to fail, and another to build party structures by mobilizing people who will bring in new and savouring ideas that would hopefully change the narratives to improve the lot of people. That is what Adizue wants to achieve. Over and above, Adizue has kept faith in his political thrust with a convincing performance index which he’s building upon.
Furthermore, the confluence of opinions by diverse groups and party members on the high and positive political strides of Adizue goes beyond politics and rhetoric. It further serves as encouragement and building blocks to Adizue, whose actions and results have shown a political leader that has the welfare and interest of his party and people at heart.
