Come and let us sell him to the Ishmaelite, and let not our hands be upon his, for he is our brother and our flesh,” and his brothers listened. Then Reuben returned to the pit and indeed Joseph was not in the pit; and he tore his clothes verse 30, and he returned to his brothers and said “the lad is no more, and I, where shall I go? So they took Joseph’s tunic, killed a kid of the goats and dipped the junic in the blood. Them they sent the tunic of many colors and they brought it to their fathers and said. “We have found this, do you know whether it is your son’s tunic or not? And he recognized it and said, “It is my son’s tunic. A wild beast has devoured him; without doubt Joseph is torn to pieces”. Verse 34, then Jacob tore his clothes, put sack cloth on his waist, and mourned for his son many days. You see, with man’s wisdom, they killed a goat and dipped Joseph’s tunic into the blood and sent it to their father Jacob purporting it to mean that Joseph has been devoured by a wild beast while in actual sense; Joseph has been sold out as a slave to the Ishmaelite. (One, they conspired to him, two dumped him into a pit and thirdly, sold his for twenty shekels of silver. With all these crime committed against Joseph, they now killed a kid of the goat and dipped his tunic of many colors in the blood so that their father Jacob will be deceived into believing that Joseph was killed by a wild beast. Remember how Rebecca and Jacob deceived Isaac to believe that Jacob was Esau and got blessings meant for Esau. Genesis 27:28-35.
Jacob also swallowed the pills of cheat or deceit from his children. A case of tit for tat. Verses 34 of Genesis 37, says that Jacob tore his clothes, put sack cloth on his waist and mourned for his son many days. You shall reap what you sow Let us go back to Genesis 27:30 Then it happened, as soon as ISAAC HAD FINISHED BLESSING Jacob, and Jacob had scarcely gone out from the presence of ISAAC HIS FATHER, THAT Esau his brother came in from his hunting. He also had made savory food, and brought it to his father, and said to his father “Let my father arise and eat of his son’s game, that your soul may bless me”. And his father Isaac said to him, “who are you?” And he said “I am your son, your first born Esau”. Verses 33, then Isaac trembled exceedingly and said “who?” where is the one who hunted game and brought it to me? I ate all of it before you came, and I have blessed him and indeed he shall be blessed. When Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his father, “Bless me, even me also, O my father. Verses 35, But he said “your brother came with deceit and has taken away your blessings” Isaac was put into bitter mood by Jacob and his mother through deceit. Now, Jacob also had tested the bitter pills from his children by their human wisdom and understanding which is full of calamities. Proverb 30:2-3 says surely I am more stupid than any man. And do not have the understanding; I neither learned wisdom nor have knowledge of the Holy one. The book of Romans 12:16 says “Be of the same mind toward one another, do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. Proverb 2:11 discretion will preserve you, understanding will keep you.
Human understanding and wisdom is full of murder and mischief. ll Samuel 11:2-18 David, Bathsheba and Uraih: Then it happened one evening that David arose from bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold. So, David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said, is this not Bathsheba the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah, the Hittite”. Then David sent messengers, and took her and she came to him and he lay with her, for she was cleansed from her impurity, and she returned to her house. And the woman conceived, so she sent and told David, and said “I am with child”. Verse 6, then David sent to Joab, “saying send me Uriah the Hittite”. And Joab sent Uriah to David. When Uriah had come to him, David asked how Joab was doing and the war prospered. And David said to Uriah, “Go down to your house and wash your feet”. So Uriah departed from the king’s house and a gift of food from the king followed him. But Uriah slept at the door of the king’s house with all the servants of his master and did not go down to his house.
So, when they told David, saying “Uriah did not go down to his house,” David said to Uriah did you not come from a journey? Why do you not go down to your house? And Uriah said to David “The ark and Israel and Judah are dwelling in tents, and my (master) Joab and the servants of my (master) are encamped in the open fields. Shall I then go to my house to eat and drink, and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing.” Verse 12, Then David to Uriah, “wait here today also and tomorrow I will let you depart.” Now, when David called him, he ate and drank before him and he made him drunk. And at evening he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his master but he did not go down to his house. Then in the morning it was so that David wrote in the letter, saying “set Uriah in the fore front of the hottest battle, and retreat from him, that he may struck down and die”. Verse 16, So it happened, while Joab besieged the city that he assigned Uriah to a place where he knew there were valiant men. Then the men of the city came out and fought with Joab. And some of the people of the servants of David fell, and Uriah the Hittite died also. Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war. “What a tragedy has the wisdom from man caused us?”
