In less than 24 hours before the governorship and house of assembly (HOA) election to be conducted in the 36 states excluding FCT, all machinery at the state level is in motion to create awareness and sensitize the public on the right candidate to vote for.
The People Democratic Party(PDP)/Obident Movement and other support groups in Delta State, yesterday flooded the street of Asaba and its environment to sensitize the masses on the need to vote wisely.
According to the Chairman, of PDP Oshimili South LGA, Mr. Dada Okonji, he said, "This is a mega rally for the PDP governorship candidate Sheriff and his Deputy Onyeme alongside the HOA candidate, Bridget Anyafulu ahead of March 18, poll.
"The rally consists of different groups; the kingmakers, the Labor Party(LP) supporters (Obidient movement) that voted for Peter Obi in the just concluded presidential election are all here to support and vote for PDP, including the Yoruba community, Hausa, and the Igbo all for PDP.
"We urge you to vote for someone you know and not a stranger, for the APC candidate, he cannot be the governor, because you do not know him, and has done so badly, even as a one-time member of HOA and cannot be trusted.
"We are here to sensitize our people to come out in mass and vote for PDP, because the incumbent Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has done well for the people of Oshimili south and Deltans.
Also, he admonished all Deltans to vote for the ruling party in Delta State for continuity and good governance, which they have enjoyed and will enjoy if voted into power.
In the same vein, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters and a member of Oshimili South, ward 9, Hon. Sunday Obi stressed the importance of unity and collaboration in the state, regardless of tribe and religion for good governance.
In his words" We the indigenes and non-indigenes comprising the Igbos', Edo, Calabar, and other tribes and all that voted ignorantly a few weeks ago are going around the wards, preaching and reaching out to the people on the need to vote PDP back to power.
"This is our election, it has nothing to do with the federal. Delta state is a PDP state and has done well so far in fostering peace, progress an inclusive government, and a good policy for the youth, women, widows, civil servants, and entrepreneurs in the State. Obi observed.
