THE traditional ruler of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso, the Abe 1, Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, the Chairman of Uvwie Local Government, Hon. Ramson Tega Onoyake and some students have lauded Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the establishment of Effurun Modern Technical College, Effurun Uvwie local government area.
The commendation was contained in their separate speeches during the commissioning of the technical college in Effurun, on Tuesday.
“We are sincerely grateful to be one of the beneficiaries of the nine modern technical colleges awarded by you (Governor Okowa) in the first phase of revitalising technical colleges in the state.
“We are aware that Effurun Modern Technical College was the last to be awarded among the nine colleges, but like the biblical saying: The last shall become the first”, Abe 1 stated.
On his part, the Chairman of Uvwie Local Government, Hon Ramson Tega Onoyake, in his address, stated that: “I want to sincerely express our profound gratitude for counting Uvwie local government area worthy to have this modern technical school situate here.
“You said it and you did accordingly. Indeed you are the ‘ Ekwume ‘ of Delta State”, Onoyake added.
Some students of the technical college, including Miss Joy Lolo-West, spoke in the same vein, as they lauded the governor and assured that they will make good use of the school for their future benefits.
The Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, in his key note address, during the inauguration of the technical college, stated, among others that he was grateful to the Uvwie monarch for the provision of land for the building of the college.
He also lauded the Uvwie people for providing an enabling environment for the building of the technical college. Governor Okowa, however, stressed the need for the expansion of the college. To this end, he assured that he will hand over the school expansion need to the next governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, in his handing over note.
High point of the event was the cutting of the tape to commission the Model Technical College, Effurun by the Uvwie monarch. The Traditional ruler was assisted by Governor Okowa , Deputy Governor Kingsley Otuaro and other dignitaries.
The Uvwie monarch, in a media interaction with news men, expressed delight that Governor Okowa started and completed the project in record time.
He charged management, staff and students to make good use of the technical college and to also maintain it.
The Secretary of Uvwie Council of Chiefs, Dr. (Chief) Samuel Eshanake, and a Palace Chief of the Ovie of Uvwie, Chief Sunday Popo, in a separate media chats with newsmen, also hailed Governor Okowa for his patronage of Uvwie local government area.
