...As Residents Of DPPS Group Of School Street Call For Speed Break

FOLLOWING the incessant vehicular accidents by the DPPS Junction along Isah-Ogwashi- Uku road, residents of the area have appealed to both the proprietor and well-meaning residents of the area to construct a speed breaker on the junction.

They maintained that several lives have been lost on the junction as a result of ghastly motor accidents.

Findings by Ogwashi-Uku metro revealed that within a short period of the last quarter of last year, about four lives have been lost on the junction as a fallout of ghastly motor accidents.

One of the accident victims, who was overran by Tipper driver, was a sister to the owner of a popular hotel in the metropolis.

Facts checked shows the Tipper driver had bashed the commercial motorcycle conveying the woman home.

The impact caused the woman to fall off the motorcycle before the vehicle overran her as she lay on the road. She died instantly.

Investigations also revealed that another Tipper driver that was heading to Ubulu-Uku from the Ogwashi-Uku axis, on getting close to the junction had lost control and crashed into a motorcyclist, who was waiting at the junction to enter the main road.

The motorcyclist was reported to have died on the spot; while another recent accident on the junction had occurred with the driver crashing into the containers on the road side also.

Sources disclosed that no life was lost because the owners of the containers were not inside.

“So you can see that this junction appear prone to ghastly motor accidents. For me, as it stands now, the best thing is for speed breaks to be constructed in the junction.

“At least this will help to reduce high impact of accidents on the spot. And if you check the drivers of these vehicles, if they are not yahoo boys, they are these big vehicular drivers who are either maybe drunk or have smoked hard drugs.

“For instance, these internet fraudsters who have succeeded in overrunning our society, they too are heavily into hard drug intake. And that is why if you see them driving in the day time, they always put their headlights on while on high speed.

“So you can see that so many things are wrong with the system. This is junction that leads to one of the biggest private school in Ogwashi- Uku, it is important that all those concerned should do the needful by constructing speed breaks on the junction.

“At least if not for anything, but for the sake of the innocent young ones who after closing from school normally line up by the roadside waiting for Okada”, emphasized a resident of the street, who identified himself as Emmanuel.
