Agbatutu Stresses Benefits Of Red Cross To Children

THE Proprietress of the famous St Anastasia Heights School,Effurun,Uvwie Local Government Area, Chief Mrs. Anastasia OnisuruAgbatutu has stressed the benefits of Red Cross to children.

The renowned educationist spoke to newsmen during the one-day programme tagged: ‘Red Cross Showing Love and Caring to Humanity’,organised by her school.

The highly esteemed Uvwie chief said that children had to learn how to care for one another early in life and also aware of the challenges of life.

“They should be thought the spirits of being compas­sionate and humane early in life.

“This is what a red crosser is about “ she stated.

 She averred that the annual event started with a com­munity parade by children of the school.

Agbatutu explained that t parade was aimed at creating awareness on the role of red cross in the society.

“To share love with the less privileged in the society and care for those who are in troubled areas.

“The children also created awareness on breast cancer among women and visited orphanage”, she added.

Chief Agbatutu recalled that during the infamous flood era, the children sent relief materials and cash to victims in Kwale area and that they also contributed over N100,000 for the treatment of a child that was ill.

The Coordinator of Red Cross in the school, Mrs. Uchedi Sylvester, who also spoke, said that red crossers were first aiders and therefore advised parents to encourage their wards to be red crossers.
