ELDERS and leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), lsoko North Local Government Chapter have resolved to vote massively for all candidates of the party in the forthcoming general elections.  The resolution was taken after a meeting at the residence of PDP former National Vice Chairman, Elder Emmanuel Ogidi in Ellu, lsoko North Local Government Area.  The leaders also pledged to work assiduously for the victory of the party at all levels and vowed to leave no stone unturned to ensure massive turn out in the polls.  The meeting had in attendance, among others, former Deputy Majority leader of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Leo Ogor, PDP chairman of the PDP in Isoko North, Deacon Godwin Ogorugba, Commissioner representing Isoko nation in DESOPADEC, Dr Paul Oweh as well as Pastor Jonathan Ukodhiko and Barrister Bernard Odior, candidates for the House of Representatives and Delta State House of Assembly respectively  In a welcome address, Elder Ogidi stated that PDP had performed creditably in past elections and admonished the leaders to ensure similar feat in the coming elections.  He urged those aggrieved, especially those who lost in the last party primaries to bury the hatchet, close ranks and work for the party.  “The truth is that primaries have come and gone. We should learn to put that behind us. What we have ahead of us is the general election. We must learn to forgive each other, close ranks and ensure total victory for our party”, he stated.  The former state chairman of the PDP said the party had performed well in the state and therefore should be able to garner the required figure for victory at the polks.  He reminded the people that the state Governor, Senator DrIfeanyiOkowa, who is the Vice Presidential candidate deserves massive support from the Isoko people and Deltans in general. “We must reciprocate the good things the governor has done for the Isoko people”, he added.  In his remarks, the coordinator of the PDP campaign council in Isoko North, Rt Hon Emmanuel Okoro urged the party leaders to demonstrate greater committment and ensure that the party returns to power at the national level, in addition to ensuring victory for all the candidates of the party in the coming elections.  DrOkoro, who is the pioneer speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly reiterated that PDP would not settle for anything less than victory at all levels.  He stated the the PDP remained the party of hope for the people as it was keen on rebuilding and restoring the nation after the eight years of poverty and insecurity inflicted on Nigerians by the inept leadership of the All Progressive Congress.  Hon. Okoro said that lsoko North People were aware that the PDP meant well for Nigerians and would join other Nigerians to return the party to the center while also committed to ensuring that the party remained in control of the state following the good records of Governor IfeanyiOkowa and his predecessors.  Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Council, Hon. Christian Iteire said the decision of the people to vote massively for the PDP was borne out of the people’s desire to enthrone a leadership that they could trust as the party had done well in Delta State and it would be a disaster to vote for the APC which had inflicted untold sufferings on Nigerians since 2015.    AKWUKWU-IGBO  FOLLOWING his proven commitment to the welfare of workers and civil servants in Oshimili North, the leadership of Nigeria Union Of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has paid an unscheduled visit to the Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon. Innocent Esewezie to show him the newly acquired bus they bought for the union.  The leadership of the Union came to show appreciation to the LGA Chairman over the support he gave them to help in the buying of a new bus for the workers, to help in the mobility of the workers in moving from one place to another.  The president of the Union, Comr. They were obviously elated by the acquisition of the new vehicle and appreciated the Council Chairman for the huge role he played.  The LG Chairman inspected the bus and commended then for a good buy made, he told them he was impressed with the quality of bus they acquired and assured them of a more fruitful partnership between his administration and the workers. Also present was the Head of Personnel Management (HPM) Mrs Jones Ofunne and other Council appointees.  SAPELE  THERE was tension in Sapele town following the gruesome murder of the deputy leader of Warri North Legislature, Bigha Grikpa, and three others.  It was learnt that Grikpa was shot dead by gunmen who stormed the Mission Road area of the town in the early hours of the fateful day.  According to our source, the politician, like other victims, was probably at the wrong place at the wrong time.  The killings came amidst the recovery of the bloated remains of two young boys, who had been declared missing two days earlier.  The sleepy town has been rocked by bloody cult gang wars and deadly killings in the last two years, with dozens of young men killed during the Yuletide.  The bloody Wednesday’s victims also included Mathew Ekiopa, who ran a thriving boutique at Lexi Junction, and his sales girl, simply identified as Blessing. They were hit at point-blank range in the head and arm in front of the shop.  The fourth victim, identified as Alhaji Bello, a businessman, was making a purchase at the boutique when the gunmen struck.  In another development, a young man, identified as Chope Ukode has been killed by his brother in Sapele over ‘ Yahoo’ money.  The suspect reportedly slit Ukode’s throat with a razor blade following the alleged payment of Ukodo’s Yahoo deal into the brother’s bank account.  It was gathered that good Samaritans rushed Ukodo to a nearby hospital but he was pronounced dead shortly on arrival, having lost too much blood.  Efforts to reach the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) before filling the report proved abortive, but when The Pointer called at Sapele Police Command, a Police source confirmed the incidents.  ASABA  THE Chancellor of Sports University, Idumuje-Ugboko and Delta North Senatorial Candidate of the PDP in next month’s election, Hon Prince Ned Nwoko has commended the management of Royal Mira All Saints International School, Asaba, for its foresight in establishing the school, affiliated to Cambridge School, London.  Prince Nwoko, who took a facility tour of the School, accompanied by the founder, Hon Moses Iduh, was seen round the class rooms, equipped with smart boards, a 700 -capacity multi-purpose hall, teachers’ offices, ICT centre, Solar -powered electricity device, as well as male and female hostels.  He described education as the best legacy for humanity and noted that Hon. Iduh had demonstrated exemplary stride in the educational development of the state and Nigeria in general.  “I am impressed. The expansive structures and facilities here are commendable. The standards of the learning infrastructure are world -class.  “The initiator chose a worthy cause of investing in the future of our children, instead of building a hotel or pleasure spots as we see all over Asaba. He did something unique and different. Hon. Iduh has made a priceless contribution to the advancement of knowledge” Nwoko said.  In his remarks, the founder of Royal Mira All Saints International School, Hon. Moses Iduh, said it evolved from a desire to develop youngsters with sound education from the elementary stage.  He said that the school operates primary and secondary arms with another centre located at his Owa home, all bearing international ratings.  Iduh, who is the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party for Delta North Senatorial district said he had always been passionate about education.  UKWUNZU  THE Eko-Efun Premier Social Club of Nigeria, Ukwu-Nzu in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State has celebrated its 20 years of existence.  The club at its Annual General Meeting, recently in Ukwu-Nzu thanked God for giving them another year to accomplish its self-designed goals in the community.  While addressing the people, the President of the Club, Mr Ferdinand Chianuka said that this year Annual General Meeting was unique, as the Club celebrates 20 years anniversary.  According to him, “Itis with profound pleasure that I welcome you all to unique occasion of 20th Annual General Meeting of this noble organization, Eko-Efun Premier Social Club of Nigeria, Ukwu-Nzu’.  “It is pertinent to place on record that this club had since its inception played vital roles in social, educational, security, economic and political issues in Ukwu-Nzu community.  “I wish joyfully inform you that this Club mark its 20 years anniversary in December, 2022  “There is a remarkable feat in 2022 as the Club was formally registered with Corporate Affair Commission”  While commending the minority member of House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu for construction town hall in the community, the Club President also applauded the son of the soil, Mr. IK Uwagwu for close supervision of the project in ensuring that the contractors do not deliver shoddy jobs.  He commended members of the Club for their resilience over the years, pledging the Club’s support towards the UDU Osahaye led executive.  In a remark, the President of Ukwu-Nzu Development Union, Mr Samuel Osahaye commended the Club for its contribution to the development of the community.  He informed the Club that the second phase of Ukwu- Nzu road to link the Obomkpa will commence soon and the UDU is doing everything possible to ensure peace and development of the community.
