DELTA State Governor and Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has commended the Ugoani of Okpanam, H.R.M Dr Michael Mbanefo Ogbolu and the people of Okpanam for supporting his administration and maintaining peace in the Capital Terriority.
Gov Okowa, who gave the commendation on the occasion of the 10th Coronation Anniversary celebration of the Ugoani institution at St. Mulumba College, Okpanam, prayed that Okpanam should remain strong in that direction.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Patrick Ukah, GovOkowa said, peace was a vital factor in the development and advancement of any society, and it is heartwarming that the Ugoani and Okpanam people have remained peaceful, hence the level of government developmental projects in the area.
On the proposed Ugoani palace project, Gov Okowa pledged government support to it. “I’ll support the palace project the way I have been supporting other palaces in the State,” he said, adding that his administration is totally committed to the welfare of traditional rulers in the State.
However, on the sides, Chief Ukah appologised on behalf of the governor for his not being able to attend the Coronation Anniversary.
“Gov Okowa would have loved to be here personally but he could not make it because of pressing State/political engagements within and outside of the State.
“He has, however, sent his congratulations to the Ugoani and the people of Okpanam. Your Majesty, I congratulate you on this occasion and I thank you for sustaining the peace in your kingdom. I realize that you are surrounded by the best of people and this government shall support your proposed palace project the way it has supported other kingdoms,” the SSG said.
