A BRIEF ON THE DELTA PRINTING AND PUBLISHING COMPANY LIMITED

PREAMBLE

The Pointer is a leading regional publication with quality investigative and detailed work in development focused libertarian journalism geared towards upholding the highest ideals in reporting the news with objectivity and fairness, based on its editorial independence and articulate presentation.

The Pointer has also been in the frontline in the crusade for safe environment especially for the people of the Niger Delta region, South –South geo political entity and Nigeria in general.We fit in aptly into the sensitization, information dissemination role of the media in a democracy.

Through our publication, we strive to promote freedom, justice and equality in the South-South region as well as Nigeria.

We have consistently reported politics, economy, environment and contemporary issues that bother the people with adequate balance and fairness.

Our aim is to encourage and stimulate interest in the study of journalism to defend freedom of expression and to combat political and religious prejudice. We stand in solidarity with the powerless and vulnerable and we strive for a just and concerned Nigeria, Africa and the world.

The Delta Printing and Publishing Company Limited, the Publishers of The Pointer titles, is wholly owned and funded by the Delta State Government as specified in Edict No. 65 of December1, 1995. The Company commenced printing as a weekly newspaper. On October 28, 1995, published its first edition. Itbecame a bi-weekly newspaper in that same year 1995.

The Pointer editions increased to four times weekly in 1998. While the Daily production started on 24th May, 2000. On the July 1, 2011, the company began Colour production of all titles

(d) To give publicity of, and encourage, the arts and industries of DeltaState of Nigeria;

(e) To undertake and arrange for broadcast programmes;

(f) To encourage, by competition and other channels, the composition of music and literature of all kinds;
